Campers will experience hands-on exploration and investigation of farming, growing, composting, planting, and earth art. We will meet local farmers, visit the farmers market, dig and plant in the kids plot at the community garden in Truckee, read stories and do art projects about plants, visit a local farm and more!!!

various outdoor locations around Truckee, young campers will look under
logs, among plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. They
will also learn what these bugs eat and their important jobs in the
ecosystem. Note: Transportation is needed. Usually carpooling with other campers is a good option and can be arranged by you and other parents on the first day of camp.

Kids will be outdoors hiking and exploring our local Sierra watersheds while learning to identify the native trees and shrubs. They will collect specimens of plants and make a journal. Each day starts from a different trailhead and includes getting in the creeks and doing water monitoring, macroinvertebrate study and developing science inquiry skills by comparing the health of the various watersheds. Campers will have the option to attain Jr. Botanist award.

Campers learn and practice Spanish while playing games, exploring art & science, water play and nature exploration, singing, music and storytelling in Spanish. Camp is taught in Spanish, with assistance for English speakers. Campers have the museum all to themselves! Includes all instruction and materials.

Make lights glow; explore circuits, and mixtures that explode. Come experiment with us! Taught by Mechatronics and science honor graduates from Truckee High who have been camp interns at the Museum for four years. Curriculum Assistant is Fullbright Scholar and Chemistry & Physics teacher at Truckee High School, Sue Lowder.

Campers will learn about wildlife ecology, forest ecology, water
ecology, and geology of the Tahoe Basin while hiking, kayaking, and
learning from various natural science experts. Transportation cost,
kayak rentals and all activities fees are included.
