Sierra Settlers Exhibit - Children on Covered WagonSierra Settlers 2006 takes place in the mid 1800s and allows families to explore the lives of the different settlers that lived in and around the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Children experience packing the covered wagon; being a miner panning for gold in the stream; cooking food in the settlers' cabin; and trading with the settlers and caring for the babies in the Washoe dwelling. Imagination gets a boost when children dress up in period clothing representing the Chinese, Mexican, miners and settlers coming from the East.

Camp KidZone 2005 allows families to explore the outdoors together. Children and families can visit the Ranger's Nature Center to explore the bugs, birds, and other wild animals; visit a camp site; have a sing along with friends by the campfire; and visit a cave to find out who lives there. The fishing boat and stream allow children to pretend to catch salmon, but they must make sure the boat is tied to the dock, and they have to wear their life jackets and rubber boots.
