Donations

We accept donations of clothing, gear and toys for children ages 0-10 during our regular business hours. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. To be considered for donation, all clothing, toys and gear must be:

• Freshly washed/cleaned
• Stain-free
• Complete and in working order (no missing parts or buttons, broken zippers, etc.)
• Intact (without rips or holes)
• Gently used

We are not accepting consignment items at this time. Check back later for changes.

All merchandise (excluding NEW) is 50% off the last 2 open days of the month. Check the calendar for specific dates.

About the Treasure Chest

In the spirit of supporting the community and its children, helping the environment, and deriving an ongoing revenue stream for the museum, the KidZone Museum founded the Treasure Chest in 2006 (spearheaded by Kristi Darzynkiewicz and assisted by Lizbeth Doving and Rose Weskamp). The Treasure Chest provides a local trading post where children's clothes and gear can be recycled to get a full life and where parents can re-stock without going broke. Since opening our doors in February 2006, the Treasure Chest has recycled over 100,000 items. In addition to the obvious recycling of products through second-hand item sales, all unsold or well-used clothing are donated to the Salvation Army in Reno, old blankets and plush toys go to the Humane Society, and toys are distributed to the Truckee Police Department. To protect the environment, the Treasure Chest also recycles voluminous quantities of batteries from donated toys and books at Ace Hardware.

Volunteers

The Treasure Chest is always looking for volunteers, even if you have just an hour or two. You can help by organizing the Book Nook or racks of clothing, merchandising displays, assisting in marketing the store, or even maintaining our "new toys" section!
